There’s something quite intriguing about a key. Who does it belong to? What does it open? Mystery, privilege and secrecy are part of the game and Tiffany and Co are the ‘key’ players in this one. The new Tiffany Key Collection has all the above plus more — diamonds!

Taken from the archives of TIffany & Co, these keys once opened diaries, jewellery boxes, vintage travel trunks; their history is steep and their stories boundless! Alas, the new collection of beautiful keys are more magical than practical; none of them open any doors; well not literal ones but we aren’t complaining. Still, the elegant, beautiful designs could capture any heart. and they have certainly stolen mine. I have made my first, albeit modest purchase of a sterling silver, vintage, oval key pendant and have hung it on a gold chain. I wear it with pride, knowing im the only one who holds its secret – although many have tried to get me to divulge. Its really quite a conversation starter, so ladies, get used to the attention.

Coming in an array of precious metals and matching chains, I have my eye on the stunning Petals Key, the most expensive of the bunch – go figure -but truly exquisite. Live, its diamonds twinkle in all directions and is mesmerising.

It might be the perfect Mother’s Day (May 10th) gift, or just a little something you do for yourself. Why not engrave it with Mom’s initials or with something special to you?

The Tiffany keys, which can cost up to $15,000 (for the Round Kaleidoscope Key Pendant with Marquise which features square and round brilliant diamonds in platinum on a platinum and diamond chain), come at a wide range of prices. Forgo the diamonds and the platinum to get a reasonably priced gold key, or an even more affordable silver key.
